Our Tour Guides are all extremely friendly and very approachable people, whio do their job with lots of enthusiasm. They all have vast knowledge about the country and its people. They are also extremely helpful and up to any situation which might arise. First and foremost they always put the relationship to the guest and they will do anything to make the journey a success.
Jochen Beckert
Jochen Beckert, founder and owner of Absolut Tours & Safaris. Happily married to Beate and proud father to Ole, Finn and Jade. Travel is his biggest passion and his enthusiasm for nature, different races and cultures and the pleasure of showing guests the beauty of southern Africa, inspired him to offer guided tours about 15 years ago . Since then, the company has grown consistently and more and more people discover the variety and beauty of this vast country.
Volker Hobohm
Volker Hobohm, his biggest passion is photography and he is constantly busy improving his artistic skills. This comes as no surprise, since he is forever subject to the most stunning and unusual motives on his tours. On his tours, one can be sure to experience a lot, he has got an uncanny sense about game and their hiding places. He is also known as “Crocodile Dundee”, since he once got into a fight with a crocodile, which turned out to be at the losing end! Many of the guests, which have been on tour with Volker before, return to do tours in other countries with him. And what better compliment is there for a Tour Guide?
Alex Rom
Alex Rom, one of our most experienced Tour Guides and especially responsible for our Namibia and Botswana tours. He is a born Namibian and knows the country like no other. His passion is to accompany his guests into the Okavango Delta, to show them the magnificent natural beauty and the vast amount of game. With him one can experience pure adventure! His knowledge is inexhaustible and there isn’t a subject that doesn’t interest him. He is also an outstanding cook and able to whisk up the most delicious meals in the middle of the bush!
Thomas Peschen
Thomas Peschen, born and raised in Germany. He has been working at the Zoos in Wuppertal and Cologne for several years and his main function was to oversee all aspects to ensure the wellbeing of the Elephants. In 1998 he decided to emigrate to South Africa, after having traveled the country extensively and falling in love with it. He also couldn’t resist an offer to look after the Elephants in Knysna. The travel bug hit him soon enough and also the desire to share his knowledge and love for this awesome country with other people. Besides Elephants he also loves to hike and there is not one area in South Africa that he doesn’t know. His energy and curiosity for everything that crosses his path make him the perfect Guide. If he is not on tour, he lives a typical South African life in Betty`s Bay, with his wife and 4 kids.
Kim Poppinger
Kim Poppinger, Tour Guide for many years. She has traveled though Africa extensively and there isn’t a country that she doesn’t know. For her there is nothing better than the “outdoors”! Her hobbies include diving, horse riding, hiking, photograpie and collecting rare wines. She is also passionate about cars and is able to teach anyone a thing or two when it comes to fixing them! Her knowledge and open-mindedness make her the ideal partner for a tour.
Klaas Ockhuis, Chris Kainda, Barry De Water & Neil Peterson
Our drivers, Klaas Ockhuis, Chris Kanda, Barry De Water and Neil Peterson, much loved and indispensable! They are extremely friendly and helpful and it brings great joy to have them on tour. They drive especially our Overland Tours, on which we use our Trucks. All of them are excellent and highly skilled drivers and always bring us safe to our destinations. They also love to help around the camps. With their sociable manners and open-mindedness they have brought great fun and joy to our Guests and therefore enriched their holiday experience!
